TALK ABOUT YELLOW

Updated: Sep 5, 2020

Every now and then I have this urge to introduce yellow in my life, which let's face it, shouldn't be surprising after all this rain from Mother Nature!

Today I thought I would talk a little bit about the colour #yellow. This is my dad's most hated colour, so being a daddy's girl I thought therefore I shouldn't like this colour either, but I think I'm old enough now to say, hey, who am I kidding? I love yellow! I love yellow, but I can't have too much of it, but I also can't not have some of it. So as a result, I've bought myself the cutest mug ever from Sass and Belle.

“Yellow to me is the happiest colour of all! It's the colour of the sun and we just feel full of life, happy and optimistic”

Last year we've been renovating again... as we do with this house that really just turning into a money pit... I only took the wallpaper down and everything went downhill from there... what was supposed to be a 3 day job turned into scaffolding and three months of true misery!

But lucky for us, we've already had a holiday booked to Budapest and Balaton Lake in Hungary and after all the rain we've been blessed with here in the UK, I was really looing forward to get some sunshine on our skin.

How did we end up with yellow in our Kitchen

I may well be biased, but Budapest is my favourite capital city within the whole Europe and every time we go back, there's just something heart warming.

I can fall in love with #Budapest over and over again, but this time round, Budapest made me fall back in love with the colour yellow! Interestingly, my partner felt the same way, so while we were there, I just said: " I kind of feel like we should have some of this yellow in our home too" and that was that, we've basically both agreed, that yellow is a colour that we would both enjoy in our kitchen, and this is what we've done:

It definitely brightens up this tiny little space and we love the black and yellow contrast too! Although, taking into consideration colour psychology, the black and yellow combo should not be over done as our mind processes it as "danger zone" (think of hazard signs in construction for example). For those of you interested in paint we've used here, they are Dulux Banana Dream1 and the rest of the walls are Brooklyn Nights 6 (this is a light grey with a lilac undertone) keeping the ceiling white. If you've not used the Dulux Visualizer app, I thoroughly recommend it, it's a great help when you trying to decide on a colour:

The secret with yellow is, that you only ever need a little bit as it goes a long way! Here, less is definitely more!

Hope you've enjoyed the quick update, will see you soon,

Piri
